That's bunk.  Cellphone don't produce anywhere near the wattage necessary to
cause any significant interference.  I'd throw this one on the same pile as the
"cellphones cause gas staion explosions" myth.

I wasn't trying to speak as an expert on RF radiation.  It was more like
the average cell phone emits ~.3 Watts which isn't nearly enough affect
anything except in very close proximity.  I think the hospital ban stems
from that fact that the 2-Way radios used by emergency personnel can cause
harmful interference due to their (usually) high output.  This fact is then
translated to any communication device that emits a signal.   I'll have to
do more reading on this since I'm not an expert in this field and I was
using knowledge gained from personal experience which may or may not
applied in this case.

Sounds like you're talking out of your 8880.

You're right, but I basically admitted to that already.  I wasn't trying to be a
know-it-all but it certainly came out that way.  Sorry.

However, here's an article I found after my post:

(...) Where did you get your number that an average cell phone emits around 0.3 watts? Is that during paging, dormancy or in active call? More importantly, how do you know how sensitive other devices in the hospital are, and they'd be affected by (...) (20 years ago, 24-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
