Hi guys,

In planning modules, I've been taken with the idea of elevating some
portion of the track.  So I did some math to determine how much
difference sloping a track makes in its run length.

I typically use a slope of 2 plates per segment when I have all the
space in the world; I might go as steep as 3 pps on a module.  My
conclusions:  There's really not enough difference to matter; somewhere
between an eighth and a half a stud per module, which can be easily made
up in the play of the track connectors.

Here are the numbers:

Rise Rise Run 6 segs delta
(plates)(cm) (studs) (studs) (studs)
0 0.00 16.000 96.000 0.000
1 0.32 15.995 95.970 0.030
2* 0.64 15.980 95.880 0.120*
3 0.96 15.955 95.730 0.270
4 1.28 15.920 95.519 0.481
5 1.60 15.875 95.247 0.753
6 1.92 15.819 94.914 1.086

* - the ratio I usually use

The 'delta' number is how many studs I expect to be off over the course
of a full module.  Not a big deal.
