Anyway, going to the hobby shop this week to purchase a DN140 N-scale
decoder for testing purposes.

Can that kind take an off switch so that you can just pass through
current/voltage and run on non DCC layouts? I'm thinking that would be handy
during the transition period! (shows how much actual research I have done on
this topic lately)
