Re: ready or not.... your OUT!

This is not what our group is about, never has been. In my opinion, we've taken a step in the wrong direction. (22 years ago, 12-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ready or not.... your OUT!

(...) Did I hear you offering fronting the nearly $300 a day fee it'll cost to rent the Library post spring 2003? Thanks Bruce! Calum (22 years ago, 12-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ready or not.... your OUT!

(...) First, I'd like to point out that I'm almost always ready. This discussion about scoring, being ready, and entertaining people for an hour is really bringing home the point that we're selling ourselves out for the stink'in library. My interest (...)   Re: ready or not.... your OUT!

No worries Chris... remember my only-ever Sumo entry? The fish sticker from the Diver's line of sets? It fulfilled all the rules: * only Lego parts * less than 12" cube * Only 1 RCX etc. Well, I could bring him again... PLAY FOR THE TIE! Jeff (...)   ready or not.... your OUT!

Calum... all thought the idea of "you have to be ready when called" works great for huge events and TV... we just cant afford that on a contest point of view. we ALL have had to tweak our robots before the game... during the game, and I've even (...)   Re: How to Run a Double-Elimination Match

(...) ya know.... I really thought I paid todd enough of a bribe to keep you off the list.... I guess I should have offered more. I'd still like to have a go at the software. I like the idea of everyone playing everyone... but if we can do it faster (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: How to Run a Double-Elimination Match

(...) The big problem with the elimination is that in each match, one robot must win, and the other must lose. That doesn't fit with the rules for this event. This software will rank robots based on the points scored, and in the next round, put them (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: How to Run a Double-Elimination Match

(...) Well, bring it up and let's see. It might be exactly what we need! (...) from the rule page: Only one robot is on top of the pedestal: Winner gets 2 points, loser, 0. Both robots are on the top of the pedestal: Each gets 1 point. Both robots (...) (22 years ago, 11-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: How to Run a Double-Elimination Match

In lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, Jeff Elliott writes: a great explanation of single and especially double elimination which I snipped but which I have to try to remember since I'll be running something at GenCon Indy ... (...) This is often used for (...) (22 years ago, 11-Mar-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: How to Run a Double-Elimination Match

(...) Okay. We usually have anywhere from 8-12 entries, so that's not a bad guess at all. (...) That fits okay, because 7x3minutes is only 21 minutes and we have a total of an hour to officially entertain, according to the schedule. (...) :) (...) (...)
