  Peach down

Hey folks, A power supply failed last night and both Peach hard disks were destroyed in a fiery explosion of fantastic proportions. Okay, I'm elaborating a bit. But either way, Peach is down and we're getting a new second hand Ultra30 in it's place, (...) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) Oops, there was a mistake in my first equation above that I've corrected here, in order to give a negative number. (...) That's why I have " > 180", not "> or equal to 180" ;) Since the question was framed in relation to 0, that's what my (...) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) I noticed that, also. I think it says "changes must be less than 180". However, I'm not sure it matters which direction you went. For example, if you get readings of 10 deg and 20 deg, but in the time between the direction was never 15 (...) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) One of the things I did pickup from "my" answer is you need to have a sample frequency small enough that you are not going to get wind direction changes of 180 degrees or more. And I say or more, because it's important to the average which (...) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) And if you stop and think about it for a second or two, you'll realize your special case really does deserve special consideration. The average is no wind at all, so the direction would be undefined. (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) Don't you get the same problem at 180, now? 170 + 190 = 170 +(-170) = 0 I think there are several readings that can give you more than one result. For example, if you take two readings of 90 and 270, what should the answer be? 0? 180? never (...) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) Here a detailed explanation I found puttering with google. I can't remember how to solve these equations anymore. So have fun. :-) (URL) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: OT: Math Help

(...) If I remember right, the way we resolved this for real-world surveying problems and the like was to convert the degrees 180 < x < 360 into negative values relative to 0/north. 350 is -10, 270 is -90, etc. If x1 > 180 then x2 = 360 - x1 This (...)   Re: OT: Math Help

(...) I think using vector math (as you do above) is the right way to go. As for the special cases, meh, deal with it :) (19 years ago, 5-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  OT: Math Help

Figured I'd bounce this problem off the smart people in RTLTotonto...This was posted on an automation mailing list, with little resolution: I have a weather station which measures both the direction and speed of the wind and is connected to a PC to (...)   Re: OT: A trip to Berlin

(...) ya it was a GREAT story, it moved me, much beter than the musical Tommy(tm) or Cats.(tm) so, how goes that RC lego video? Chris (19 years ago, 4-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  OT: A trip to Berlin

Hey folks, A while ago someone said they enjoyed reading my travelogues. In the fall of 2004, I ended up going on an emergency business trip to Germany. This has: -Tales of me driving at 190km/h in a $75,000 car with two hours of sleep. -How to see (...) (19 years ago, 4-Aug-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Hobby Show November (Toronto)

(...) This thread has been too quiet, so I thought I'd try to see if we could get some discussion started about this. Please see Dave's notes above (or reread his entire original post). This is really good news, if you as me! There must be some (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jul-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca.on, FTX)

Re: Any 1970's Canadian Lego Catalogs?

(...) Oliver, I've got some educated guesses at dates, including V-1869 and LE-21-66 here: (URL) think the -66 actually stands for 1966, but I'm not 100% sure. I would love to see your scans of 3551-CA (or host them with your permission). On the (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jul-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Any 1970's Canadian Lego Catalogs?

(...) Yes Oliver, it sounds very interesting!!!! The first one V-1869 is likely the 1963-64 Canadian Samsonite catalog. The LE-21-66 is the 1966 Canadian Samsonite Spare Parts list. "THE LEGO STORY" - 3551-CA is likely the 1968-69 Canadian Samsonite (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jul-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Any 1970's Canadian Lego Catalogs?

G'Day Finally found my catalogue collection, I think i have some Samsonite from late 60's and early 70, but it is very hard to tell, i can not see any obvious copyright dates. I have a page of instructions, looks very old, Samsonite, prnted in (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jul-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Primer

(...) Derek, Thanks to you, word of this movie has been in my head for months... Primer DVD was released on April 19, 2005, and is now at Blockbuster for rent, apparently. Will try and check it out tonight. (URL) (19 years ago, 27-Jul-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

What I want to know is... if you've got x number of people setting up, in different locations, how do you make sure everything "meets up" when you have to have pieces/modules near each other to within a fraction of a stud (...) Ugh :-/ I just sat down, and tried to build a simple linear actuator (I want to build another parallel robot), and I couldn't even figure out what pieces to use. I'm so tired. :( Iain (19 years ago, 28-Jul-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
