I finally got around to taking some pictures of my first Chess Set creation, originally created for the Toronto Hobby show in 2003. It features slide out drawers to store the pieces. (...) I got confused by that. too. The rules say pained corners, and using Dave's playfield, plain plywood, 8x8. I thought Daves was 4x4, and painted grey. Thought RTl's was 8x8 painted grey... what is it? -Rob A. (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Hey Rob, We're going with the 8x8 field, not the 4x4. I dunno how smooth the joint is on the 8x8--I think the center part is good 'casue it's got the piano hinge under it, but out to the edges, where there's no hinge, there's a bit of a lip. (...) (...) I warn you, if you think a block-stacker is parts-intensive, the GBC is far worse. Part of the problem is I now need >shudder< more system bricks (my 7-year-old son has them, not me), *and* more plates, 1x16 beams, etc., etc. Once you build a (...)
