Not necessarily.  If TLG and the store selling something agree that it won't
sell at the RRP (full list price I believe) sometimes they put together a
deal on the kit or kits that marks a certain amount off the affected kits.
In which case, they don't bother with the GST or tax on it, because that is
credited to the store in the deal.

At least that is how they explained it at my local store, a 6975 went from
$89.99 recently, to $53.99 simply because TLG rep made a deal with the
store, knocking some of the price off the kit in question.

Because at the previous price it had already attracted the 22% wholesale
tax, and then got knocked down by the deal, they don't reduce the price any,
since the reduction was pre-GST, and therefore the tax figures in as part of
the deal anyway.  I'm not sure if that's the correct way to do it, but
that's how it came out.

I'm still not sure if it would actually be worth picking up that kit at that
reduced price though  :o)  I might, if I can scrape a bit of cash together.
The local store had four of them at that price.

What's that got to do with 3409?  Say it had a MSRP that was lots higher,
and the stores said it wouldn't sell at that price, so TLG rep opts instead
to set it at a lower price to make it a loss leader or promo set, making a
deal in the process with the stores that want to stock it.

3409 had a recommended retail price of $59.95 inclusive of 22% wholesale • sales
tax. If you remove the 22% tax then add on the 10% tax, surely we can • expect a
10% reduction in price or at least that's what the ACCC is telling us to
expect.

TLG must be offering the set for 12% less than it was available for prior • to
the 1st July.

Why does everyone expect the prices to be the full 10% cheaper?  They • can't

Hi All,

Just did the rounds of the Brisbane northside stores, picked up the
following at TRU as they were 40% off and good sources of spare parts

6568 reduced from $56.99 to $32.46
8x6452 reduced from $5.99 to $3.52
2x6546 reduced from $9.99 to $4.82

Also finally found stock of the soccer sets at both TRU and DJ's • neither
of which had reduced the prices by the expected 10% caused by the GST.

TRU still has all the pre GST prices on everything but all stock scans
at a price about 3% cheaper.

DJ's are offering some of the soccer sets at the following prices:

3402 Light Pole and Stand  $8.54
3403 Grandstand and Scoreboard $13.43
3404 Team Bus 1 $17.24
3405 Team Bus 2 $17.24
3406 Team Bus 3 $17.24
3407 Team Bus 4 $17.24
3408 Super Sports Coverage $30.72
3410 Expansion Set $13.43

Has anyone seen them cheaper, ie a full 10% cheaper?

Mark H
