Hi, yeah i know about the *security* aspect, the never ending battle.
Although it seems to be more about keeping the p2p'ers from getting
*any* bandwdith. Hmm i seem to see a couple of *.bu.edu entries in my BT
and WinMX log files ;-)

We have a lot of bandwidth. :)

Windows boxes aren't the ones you need to worry about. It's what people are
playing with in the back offices where you can't see :-O

Yeah, but with 97% of machines running MS OSes, I think the ISPs are
sincere in saying that the main purpose of blocking port 25 is to stop the
onslaught of Windows-bourne trojans/worms/etc. I know some *better*
solutions, but they're not going to happen anytime soon. :)

So how much of your time is taken up going after P2P'ers at BU? Apart from
dorms, is it a big problem?

0% of my time -- not *my* problem. But, before the big RIAA lawsuit fuss,
it was the majority of our bandwidth. It's still a significant portion,
but much more spread out over different services. And like I said, there's
lots of bandwidth.
