  Lord of the One Remote

I have achieved a state of One Remote For Every Device. It is a wondrous state. Marantz RC1200 Remote... mmm...mmm. Not only does it control everything in my entertainment center, but it also allows programming of Macros, so I can have it carry out (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) The Marantz is nice, but I still like the Philips Pronto <drool>...who ever thought you could drop $500-$1000 for a remote control, huh? (Of course, I could do all the same things on my Apple MessagePad 120 years ago, but there you go...) Matt (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) $1000 for a remote? My brain just threw a rod! That's more than my DVD player, receiver, and speakers combined! Of course I have lower budget devices, but that isn't the point. It would be nice, though, to be able to switch from watching cable (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Ehh, funny thing. Marantz = Philips. The remote I got was only $149. It does all the stuff I want. I could have spent about 250 and bought the cooler one with the touch screen, but I decided to forego the keen factor and just go for function. (...) (...) Well, you understand...Apple has ALWAYS been ahead of their time...WAY ahead of their time! Gotta' give Microsoft and Dell and the others plenty of time to steal the Apple innovation and proclaim it as their own creativity! 8?) Matt (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Oh gosh, now I've realized that my first computer - Apple ][+ - is older than Shiri or Tim C. Bruce (typing this on his Compaq while the Mac G4 sits turned off) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Lord of the One Remote

(...) Touchscreens *suck* for remote controls. The tactile feedback of good old regular buttons is really important. I personally am really happy with my X10 learning remote (URL). Unfortunately, it only has memory for a few dozen programmed keys, (...) (23 years ago, 16-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) I don't have this problem. When I switch from TV to DVD, I gotta get up and walk over to put a DVD in the machine anyhow. So I just hit all the buttons while I'm there... -JDF [Now, if that Marantz 1200 has a robotic DVD changerator, I am _so_ (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
