Re: Another request to LDlite programmers...

(...) barring the groupwise servers, our main file servers (9 of them that users "touch") have been upgraded in place, and for some reason... they didn't like it. when DS is requested to be opened, it takes like 3.5 mins (weird) we haven't had time (...)   Re: Another request to LDlite programmers...

(...) I think that they have in fact removed a few things from the 6.1 installl disk (it's a pretty tight squeeze), but it shouldn't have been anything remotely mainstream. In my (humble, of course) opinion, the 6.1/6.2 installer is terribly broken. (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) jazz) (...) That's strange. Servers on our internal network were extremely long-lived in the 4.x days, even with 10000's of objects in the tree. (Well, the non-Groupwise servers, anyway.) What conditions do you think lead to your servers going (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) soon to be netware 5. we're upgrading. All our servers are at 4.2 (or 4.11, same thing, different support packs) we're busy trying to merge the current enterprise of 3000 (with groupwise and zenworks/winstall/NAL and all that jazz) into a (...) (...) hey now, sometimes they live longer than a week... we have one that's been up 100s of days... (it's one we don't do much to) :) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) I'm willing to bet that she's admin over a NetWare 5 site. NetWare 4 was far more stable. I sometimes wonder why we even let 5.0 out the door (not that I had any control over that!) Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) not sure yet (only tried it today, after burning a CD at work), and the first thing I get asked after the bootloader is "please insert your driver disk". It doesn't matter which mode I choose (graphical, text, or expert), it doesn't say what (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) shop (...) yah, she has 3000 users, I have 200 - she has to reboot her servers at least once a week (if they don't crash before that) while my servers average uptime of about 200 days, at heavy load... and that's only cause then I take them (...)   Re: Another request to LDlite programmers...

(...) heheh. that's almost the exact situation we have here. 486/25 running RH6.0 (6.1 won't install, didn't have time to get it to yet), compared to PIII/500 running win95... I can't say the linux is faster, at least not in X :P At work, however, (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
