Thats a truely interesting angle Larry. I always thought that Mac's and PC's
weren't REAL computers but, toys for the folks who didn't know how to use • real
systems like Unix/Linux  ;)

I'll see your UNIX and raise you S/390... (Can you program in 370/BAL)?

WHOO WHOO, To pay proper respect to those who probably know more or can code or
even call themselves "programmers" I cannot raise my hand high, maybe peeking
just over the heads of most. I was able to jump on the techie wagon at college
and get some hardware troubleshooting time on an old PDP11.. I think what
fasinated me most wasn't that of its size or what it could do but the CORE 16K
memory board itself... I have to go digging threw my boxes, I believe I still
have it, right after we put the old girl to sleep in 93'. Before I left college
in 98' a computer tech student who knew alot gave me a good laugh when he asked
what the heck was the thing hanging on the Corkboard? I said, "Core Memory from
a PDP11". The expression on his face was priceless. The concept of a module the
size of a laptop was just to much for him to compute.

I'm not sure how many people have actually seen this amazing piece of work but
if I find my board I will take picts and post it.. By far it is truely its own
piece of ART!

(...) I'll see your PDP11 and raise you a PDP/8, since we're talking old iron. (MTU had an amazing amount of tired iron it got from goodness knows where) Just to make the pot interesting I'll toss in an EAI 16... which you had to bootstrap from (...)
