so..i'm sure everyone has already heard this... but i remember a neat bit of
fiction from junior high...

apparently one day a man is sitting in his living room with his dog and
suddenly he hears a faint voice in his head
"tomorrow we take over the world"
it startles him, but he dismisses it... until he goes to get the mail a few
hours later and sees the neighbor's dog in their yard. he once again hears the
voice, only clearer this time
"tomorrow we take over the world"
he can't put it out of his mind that he *is* hearing something.. and it is no
doubt coming from the dogs... so he goes over to his neighbor, a good friend
for years, and confesses what's happened to him twice. the neighbor is
astonished because he *too* heard the phrase... in fact, he heard it repeatedly
during the day, so much so that it led him to put the dog outside...
the neighbors decided that this was too much to be a coincidence and they
needed to find out if other people were also being affected.
this is how the word began so spread, and sure enough, every single person in
town, in the state, the country, every single person on the planet who was near
a dog at some point during the day had heard the words
"tomorrow we take over the world"
paranoia kicked in, fueling people's need for action... so it was decided, no
chances could be taken.. every dog would be destroyed before the stroke of
midnight... the voice kept ringing in people's ears, louder and louder as they
gathered up every canine they could find.
"tomorrow we take over the world"
"tomorrow we take over the world"
"tomorrow we take over the world"
dogs were put to sleep in droves, while the voice pounded louder and louder in
the head of every human on earth.
"tomorrow we take over the world"
"tomorrow we take over the world"
the closer the stroke of midnight came, the most furious the pace to find and
rid themselves of every dog in sight.
"tomorrow we take over the world" slowly became more ane more faint.
before the day's end not a single dog could be found and finally the voice was
silenced. exhausted, the people of earth slept, enjoying the quiet inside their
heads which they had missed for over 16 hours.

the next day the cats took over the world.

:)

(...) Ever since the first time I saw a thumbed cat, I've been convinced they are getting ready to overthrow the human oppressors. It's inevitable. Cats already think they're better than everybody else, and they don't pay enough taxes, either. Steve (25 years ago, 25-Aug-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
