Ugh. At a company I used to work for (well known, to users, ex-employees,
current employees, and spectators for it's total idiocy), we used to get in new
desktop computers to put into various departments. The inventory controller
would dutifully put an asset sticker on the back of the case, cross reference
it with a sheet detailing the insides of the computer, and file it all away.
Then he would turn it over to the Operations department, which would rip the
machine open, cannabalise all the parts out from inside it, and replace them
with inferior parts (especially if it was bound for another department).
It was a wonderfully effective way of keeping track of all the company's cases
and where they went, though. Thise cases, they cost money.

Right on the pile he puts it. Mind you this guy is (...) (26 years ago, 18-May-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
