This just happened. I can't believe it.
I'm here in the studio doing my thing and the technical director walks in and
puts an asset sticker near the corner on the carpet that covers an entire wall.
Right on the pile he puts it. Mind you this guy is no idiot. Then he turns to
me and says, "The accounting department wanted me to put this on the carpet.
This is the asset sticker for all of our new carpet." What he means is we're
completely overhauling six studios and they all get a new cobalt-blue carpet on
their floors and walls, and that's the sticker for all six rooms.
I laughed and told him that's got to be one of the stupidest things I'd ever
seen, and he just smiled and said, "I'm just doing what they told me." Then I
looked at the ticker again and said, "You're being too nice: I'd put the
sticker right in the middle of the wall, and I'd put it on upside down."
Then he told me that one of the engineers out in the field was required to put
an asset sticker on a concrete slab he poured. In it, he made a little divot to
size, deposited the sticker, and put a thick coating of clear epoxy over it.

Don't laugh - with the company I used to work for, any consumables I needed (canned air, isopropal, even rags and q-tips!) to work on printers had to be ordered against a call, instead of bought locally and expensed.
