Here's the thing, Dave: you're totally right. But there's no point in
worrying about it any more.

There seems to be a consensus that it's OK to bully Eric on LUGNET. I've
<http://news.lugnet.com/market/buy-sell-trade/?n=17086 protested it before>,
but apparently the admins and the bulk of the posters here want it to
continue. You can either get what enjoyment out of LUGNET that you can, or
you can spend your time fruitlessly arguing with trolls.

If the admins want to take action to stop the bullying, then I'm all for it.
But it doesn't look like that will happen, and that's the only thing that
will stop it. As <http://news.lugnet.com/admin/general/?n=13335 Allister put
it>, "pull your head in".

As a somewhat parenthetical point to what Marc said above (though flowing right
from his poat)--

At what point should people 'stand up' against (maybe perceived) transgressions?

I mean, there's that old saying (and I'm going completely from memory so it'll
be totally wrong)

They came for the elderly, but I wasn't old so I didn't stop them
They came for the sick, but I wasn't sick so I didn't stop them
They came for the blacks and jews, but I'm neither so I didn't stop them
They came for me but there was no one left to stop them...

There's also that old childrens rhymn about the loss of a nail led to the loss
of the kingdom...

I'm not screaming 'slippery slope' here, but I'm wondering where in people's
minds do they draw that 'line in the sand' in which they'll stand up to the
bully, the misuse of power, the corruption?  "To this point and no more!"

It's an utterly fascinating subject, really.  As a somewhat related note--Just
watching the debates in the US senate and congress--some are stating 'We're
done!  We allowed it to get to this point but no more!" and others are saying
"Let's give this one last 'surge' a chance to work!".  Some say the war in Iraq
was lost before it began (though that's an extemely small list of 'elected'
people) and some still have hope that the US will be victorious in the end.

I know that sometimes my 'line in the sand' varies due to the aforementioned
time/energy/relation to me, but hey, whatever :)
