I wouldn't necessarily call my 'tirades' in this thread (and others) a form of
'community policing'. I was adhering to my personal sense of justice (much like
Helo did last episode of BSG) and 'standing up' for what I perceived to be a
transgression against a fellow LUGNETter. I would have (and probably will do
so) 'stood up' for anyone here, no matter who they are or what they may have
done in the past, if there was an injustice done to them.
It's who I am. It's who I've always been.
For a full sense of disclosure, I've met Eric once, at BF a few years back.
That's about it, really. It's not like he 'hangs out' in rtlT and we're
drinking buddies. And if (and when) he's wrong, or acting prickish, I'll call
him on it (I think I have in teh past, but again, too lazy to look things up).
As I expect people 'out there' would call me out if I'm doing same.
The personalities and opinions and everything else added in is fine and dandy
for the individual, but justice has to be equally applied to everyone. There
cannot be--how did Orwell put it--some that are 'more equal' than others. By
the same token, there cannot be those that are 'less equal' than others because
of past (and forgiven) misdeeds.
That's where I take my stance. That's where I pipe up.
And if I'm wrong--hey, I bet on the wrong 'underdog' and I'll take my medicine.
That's the 'community' part. We all have an equal voice here. That's one of
the best bits about LUGNET.
Anyway, I'd say more but, eh, whatever.... (1)
