Well, imo, since "homophobic" is a slang term, and one intended
primarily to demonize another group of people (ones who, in many
cases, deserve to be demonized, to be sure), I don't think that a
mostly literal interpretation of the etymological roots of the words
could be called a "mis-meaning".

Well it is isn't it?  If a word has a different meaning than you said
that's a mis-meaning, surely...

If you thought professeur (French) means professor you'll be wrong as it
means teacher a mis-meaning.

I heard someone on TV the other night say that another person was
"making bank".  I'm a smart guy, so I assume, from the context, that
the person is earning money, but that's not what the person said.

Slang can be fun, but it isn't always understood to mean what the
person using it intends.

Slang is good among people you know.

Homophobic doesn't appear in the dictionary I checked.

Well it wasn't in mine - a very new word - I had to check an internet
dictionary.  It's a slang word now but it won't be soon - it's used too
much across the globe - IMO that's not really slang.  OK, lets define
slang - anyone?

Ah, what's in a name?

Trust and respect in the LEGO Community.  In all fairness no-one really
knows me here - I've never met any of you.

Since we're in debate - "Some people really hate the way that
homosexuals want the same rights as married couples - unfortunately the
EU courts agree with them"
