It also talks about Cain, after being sent away for killing Abel, went to the
land of Nod, where he married Lillith and lived among the people there.  Neat
trick, since this is while the human count is still 4.  (er...make that 3,
that being what got Cain into trouble)

James

It never says "forever". It just says he'll be a fugitive and a vagabond
(...James VagaBond) sorry.

Yep. Not only that, but he'll bear a mark on his forehead, the curse mark.

Also, it doesn't say there were only four people at this point. It says she
gave birth to them two and then it says, "in the process of time" they brought
offerings, signifying a long period of time. In the meantime Eve kept
squeezing
out pups, probably one every few years. Seth was born after the murder of Abel
and it says that Adam was 130 years old at the time. Cain and Abel (and their
other siblings) were also of reproductive age at the time of the killing.
There
were potentially hundreds of people at this time. Notice that Cain didn't find
his wife in Nod, it says he "knew" her when he got there, he already had a
wife.

Actually, there are many other theories that say that even though Adam and Eve
were the first couple, they weren't the only one. That God had later created
other people in other areas. Nod was already populated by the time Cain got
there.
