Reagan? Ronald Reagan? Surely you cant be talking about The Great
Communicator, from whose myriad disastrous policies we had only begun to recover
when 2001 occurred (with all the implications thereof). The only thing keeping
Reagan from being the worst president since Nixon is Bush43.

Given the events that have transpired during George W. Bushs tenure, Id
bet that history will be kind to him as well.
|
Given the rampant corruption, favoritism, cronyism, fiscal mismanagement, and
general malfeasance commited by this administration, one wonders how any
rational person can hold Bush in anything other than the deepest contempt. The
firing of the attorneys alone is sufficient to tarnish his presidency forever,
and thats only the least of the scandals facing him.
I dont know why people are so quick to try and canonize Bush43 as the heir to
the Reagan legacy, except maybe because his awful and destructive administration
is the logical product of the awful and destructive policies put into motion
during Reagans reign.
If youre looking for a precedent re: the lens of history, you should probably
reflect upon how Nixons corrupt administration is regarded; thats a much
closer analog to the current misadministration.

Clinton will be remembered as the president between the Bushes.

Perhaps, but only in the way that the eye of the hurricane is a too-brief
respite from the destruction swirling before and after.
Dave!
