The 'damning' probe into the UN Oil for Food Programme fades away from the
popular press like a summer frost, but where is the spotlight on the financial
management of relief and reconstruction programmes?

Perhaps if nothing else, the UN knows how to deal with validated concerns as to
corruption and incompetence in the ranks.

(And is it just me, or there is something faintly ironic about the US publicly
going after the UN with such fervour from time to time, particularly in relation
to how the UN does wrong, what with the UN being a body which can talk all it
wants but actually do almost nothing without US agreement)

Still baldly going...

I heard the R4 show Moniot refers to... it was quite scary: "The BBC's File On 4 programme has learnt that out of over $20bn raised in oil revenues during US-led rule, the use of $8.8bn is unaccounted for."...(URL) more>>>> Scott A (...) (20 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
