I'd like to see this topic pursued a little further. This reference added to
my belief that the offer was too good to be true, and contributed to my
decision not to place an order. I think that James' "obviously wrong"
assertion might be disputed by some, but I came to the same conclusion that he
did.
I would like to know, from the people who placed orders, how many saw this
particular reference and what they thought of it at the time. Did the
overwhelming number of low prices vs. a single "pounds off" quote make them
suspect that the 59 GBP was actually in error? Maybe my cynicism is showing,
but I sensed a sub-theme of "stock up before they catch the error" in some
posts.

Each of the entries on the main page had all three data points (i.e. 'pounds off' 'current price' and 'regular price') In some of the instances, all three lined up, in the rest (the majority) the current price was (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
