As far as other negative aspects of gay marriage, I would only include one-- child-raising. I believe that every child has the right to have a father and a mother.

The right? I don’t think children have any such right.

“Deserve” a better word? What rights would you ascribe to children?

OK, 40 hours on planes gives one a little time to mull things over, so here’s my take on this.

I think parents/guardians have the responsibility to bring up their children the best they can. Many fall way short, but many also do a pretty good job. But I think it is wrong to give the children any sort of idea they have a right to or deserve certain parentage - this only leads to them blaming the parents if they fall short of expectations. I believe everyone has the right to do the best they can with what they’ve been given, and everyone includes children.

So no, I don’t believe anyone deserves any particular parents.
