Here’s the bit in question, if I’m reading you correctly:

My use of “serious” in this context coincides with
this definition,
specifically 2a.

Fair enough. I took your meaning as: “to be taken seriously by others” which I
think is a reasonable meaning to have taken, given the context, though.
