I disagree that this is not possible. How do you feel about the book of Revelation or Hell in general

The Revelation to John is a letter to a persecuted Christian Church-- it is about as metaphorical as it gets. As for Hell, I simply believe that Hell is separation from God.

I don’t think God punishes us for not accepting His perfect gift. That’s not what I call a “free gift”. It is punishment enough to live a life without meaning, purpose, and companionship of God. Without God in our lives, we are simply lost and alone in a big, mysterious universe.

Jesus revealed God as God had never done previously (in person). I therefore place prominance in Matthew, Mark, Luke-Acts, and the Gospel of John.

I do as well, I just don’t think it necessitates saying that the Old Testament’s historical books are to be read as metaphor or that God will not act as final judge to those that reject Him.

“Metaphor” was not really a good way to put it. The OT is very important to me, but only insofar as a context for the life of Jesus the Jewish Messiah. Jesus’ coming fulfilled the Law and rendered it null at the same time. He is the New Moses, giving us new commandments. So while the OT is important as a record of the history of God’s people, theologically it is moot to me and understood only in the context of the Gospel.
