The article stated: “It did not say when or how the smugglers entered Kuwait or when they were arrested.”

So basically, these are weapons in Kuwait. Yeah, I guess the U.S. is not completely in bed with Kuwait. The rest is speculative as far as I’m concerned. While we’re speculating, I bet it wasn’t an amount of arms that would amount to much.

John -- give it up. Shrub’s truthfulness is absolutely on the line. I personally believe that he will lie to anyone about anything to get his way. I am no longer in a minority in this suspicion.

That’s what Larry’s “cry wolf” mode references -- the acknowledgment that Shrub is a lying liar. And it hasn’t yet stopped! Between himself and his cabinet members he manages to publicize at least two to four variant stories on everything they want to get a message out about. It’s called plausible deniability, and it means not to expect a lot of truth from that source. Cheney is allowed to continue as the crazed warhawk, Rice and Powell are the finessing voices of unreason, and Shrub himself might as well start pulling the old Reagan bit where he pretends not to hear when the people are throwing out questions by placing his cupped hand around his ear. “Wha...what?” Puh-leaze! Just be a good little Shrub and wave bye-bye.

Generally, I agreed with Lar. This little adventure in Iraq is going to cost hundreds of billions before they are done with us unless we just nip it in the bud, if it’s not already too late for that. I don’t see the point -- not for the loss of U.S. lives or for throwing away good U.S. monies down a money pit.

I thought you were the conversative. Why am I always here defending restraint of action and the careful administration of U.S. money? There’s a big difference between being conservative and just being blindly partisan.

(URL) Has anyone else heard of this story? If true, it would be big news IMO-- I wonder why it hasn't been picked up (by conservatives; I know why liberals might want to ignore it;-) JOHN (21 years ago, 3-Oct-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
