No Smoking Gun, No Imminent Threat.... and No Surprise?
My personal view on SH before we bombed him was that:
- He probably did have some form of WoMD.
- He would use them if threatened.
- He did not represent an imminent threat to the region or the world.
It looks like I was wrong on the first point:
No surprise Iraq WMD
not found
they have not found any stocks of weapons of mass destruction of any kind
The hunt
for weapons of mass destruction yields - nothing
An intensive six-month search of Iraq for weapons of mass destruction has
failed to discover a single trace of an illegal arsenal
...not even a can of fly spray.
So whats the answer? Thats easy; give the ISG what Blix was not allowed: more
time.
I really do wonder about the costs and benefits of the conflict; OBL must be
laughing his socks off whilst sending out the membership packs...
