First I should say I am anti-gun ownership, possibly partly due to the fact that
I am a UK subject (not citizen as I dont live in a republic)
A point that appears in this thread is the term gun crime.
In the UK pretty much all gun deaths/injuries will be crimes as you are not
allowed to shoot people even in self defence with a licenced gun
In the US you can shoot in self defence, for example if your home is broken
into, this means that the death/injury is not a crime and would not appear in
the crime statistics.
Surely this means that the figures for gun related crimes do not include all the
of the actual harm caused by the guns (or people using them anyway) thus a
comaprison of figures would be skewed.

I have no idea whether there's a criminal factor in the assessment of the deaths at all -- frankly, why should there be? I think its possible that you are (...)
