You and me both. Digress away. :-, But your typical Mormon-legislated
morality comes from overzealous members, not from the church itself. And the
majority of the moralizing happens not in Salt Lake Valley, but in Utah
Valley, home of BYU. Now *that* is a scary place. I live next door, and boy
do I have some stories to tell...
What you need to remember, is that the Church stays out of politics in
general. Aside from the embarassing wrangling over legalizing homosexual
marriages in Hawaii (1), the latest political action my church has sanctioned
is to keep Germany from barring Scientologists from practicing there. Indeed,
one of our basic precepts is that the Lord has given us the gift and
responsibility of free agency, which no one will take away.

:-D Ahhh, we would all be in serious trouble if the angel Moroni chose me
above anyone else to visit. But I'm sure he's got more important things on
his mind anyway. :-,

1. I really, really, really hope this is not taken personally by any
homosexual people reading this. The Church regards marriage and family as
absolutely essential for salvation, and I suspect someone got carried away.
