"Do not ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."
   -Richard Feynmann

Wasn't it Napoleon Bonaparte that said something like this?

Okay, be that as it may that Dubya is a nincompoop, that doesn't mean that
oil isn't part of the equation.  :-)

It cannot be that he rolls out of bed each morning and says to himself:
"God, I am so stupid I think I'll declare war today." He has to have motive.
He has to think there is something to gain from it.  And I have my serious
doubts about all of that crap about freeing the Iraqi people -- or democracy
now blather.

You cannot force democracy upon another nation any more than we americans
can necessarily keep it operating in our own country. It's a prize to be
fought for, won, and then cherished.  Like maturity, no one can give it to
you -- not really.

This war is almost the only thing of note the man has done since getting to
the white house. Maybe oil isn't his only motive, but let's put it on the
table and find out what makes the guy tick. What are his other motives?  Are
they plausible?

God knows they have not successfully corralled OBL.  Yet, why not?  I have
to believe we have the means and the spy-type intelligence to do it.  Could
there be another motive? Do we need enemies?

Does God need the devil to garner converts? Y'all following me here?  I
thought it was very intersting that guys like SH and OBL first get propped
up by the U.S. to commit certain acts and then taken to task for the things
they have done at our behest -- with the power we put at their command!
Useful idiots revisited?

On a slightly different subject:
We aren't losing our rights because everybody is stupid -- they must think
they stand to gain in some way.  That's how human beings behave.  They do
stuff for reasons -- however foolish or misguided.

Maybe we are being databased because someone plans to sell the database to
commercial interests. Who knows?  Don't some of you wonder about it?  We all
know this has nothing to do with security -- god knows they don't know how
to sift through the intelligence they collect now! So -- Why? Why? Why?

Wouldn't at least some of those reasons probably run contrary to the stated
purposes for our system of govt?

Maybe I don't have all the answers, but I expect I am closer to the truth
because I have the feeling I am at least asking the right kinds of questions.

I wish the world were comprehensible from knowing a few cool quotes.  Alas...
