Ever play "King of the Hill" with a *really* big guy (an adult)? The adult
*stays* king and all of the little guys have fun trying to topple him. He may
feign that he is almost fallen, but that, too, is part of the game. The end
result is that he is there to ensure that the kids have a good time. The adult
is in full control of the game. *That* is the best way to play it.

Please cite examples of this assertion in history, because I don't see it.
It's a nice concept, and may work in other applications, but I don't see it
ever having occured in the relationships of civilizations.
OTOH, we are at the cusp of a new world order. The US is THE superpower in the
world, and we are dedicated to spreading, not our borders, but the concept of
FREEDOM and Democracy to the world. Only when all countries exist in freedom
will peace and harmony exist. Only when there is a force in the world so
mighty and dedicated to benevolance *can* such changes occur. We are that
force. We will change this world, through our technology, through our spirit,
and through our love of liberty and freedom.
No amount of UN brattle will ever bring the world one iota closer to peace.
