So if the majority of Americans decided that homosexuality was a
jailable offense, you'd be all right with that?

uhhh.. pardom me if I.Q.s just dropped sharply while i was away (name that
movie!)... but isn't that the definition of a little thing called democracy???

(first, let me state that the issue you spoke is irrelevant in my arguement, i
don't want homophobia to be the focal point)..

but currently the majority of americans think marijuana should be illegal
(something that i *strongly* agree WITH) and so it is... and if one day the
majority of americans believes the other way, then guess what, odds are the
laws will change.. i won't like it, but that's the way democracy works.. public

This was written in response to Ed basically saying that because "a
majority" of Americans believe what Clinton did was not commit perjury
(since he was lying about his sex life, I guess) that we should
somehow view the fact that he DID commit perjury differently.

The majority can change laws, yes.  Doesn't make them right, as we've
had majority rule creating laws that are wrong before.

The majority CAN'T change reality, though.  He DID commit perjury.
That IS a high crime.  And if the Senate wasn't filled with a bunch of
ball-less wonders just like him, he'd be at home in Arkansas right now
wishing he'd had the guts to say, "yeah, I did her - and it's none of
your business."
