Of course U.S. government recognized the changes and has to act to stay in
favor of the new leaders of the Philippines (mainly cause the location of
the Philippines were so important for U.S.). Permission was implicit; U.S.
didn't do nothing when thousands of people was murdered by Marcos. Support
was explicit; U.S. gave most of the modern weapons Philippines still have
and huge amount of money, which went directly to Marcos pocket.
Sounds familiar? The same has happend already so many times in so many
different areas.

If that's difficult in the U.S. you have to just wonder how difficult it
will be in a country with a history of 400 years of colonnialism.
