It was the fact that they did not have guns that gave them power. If they
had guns, some guy like bush would have called them "terrorists".

Is the Crucible not about the government/capitalist induced hysteria which
led to McCarthy being able to do what he did? Is the play not about the
gullibility of US public? The very people you want to give guns? ;)
I think it has more to do with the work of Edward Bernays that it does McCarthy.
