That's all well and good, but the point is that John asked for an example
of a Xtian (or group thereof) in the past 100 years who killed innocent
women or children, and I provided several examples.
At any rate, I don't agree with your assessment that 'denial of medical
treatment =/= abuse' no matter what "wait-for-the-hereafter" excuse the
abusers care to offer. What if I start pounding my child's head with a
hammer in the sincere belief that I'm cleansing her soul? That's not a
slippery slope; that sort of cruelty isn't substantively different from
denial of medical care, when such care would prevent or eliminate suffering.

Ah, Pascal's oft-debunked wager. Of course, the two main questions are:
1) What if you back the wrong horse?
In that case, you'd be up a tree without a paddle, since
you'd have put all of your theological eggs in the wrong
basket, so you might face eternal damnation or worse despite
the best of intentions.
2) What if there's no horse to back?
Then you'll have wasted a sizable portion of your 60 years, all
for naught. Granted, if you're not doing anything but rotting
in the ground, you won't be in a position to do much worrying,
but it doesn't seem as though you'd have spent your only 60 in the
best way possible.
Dave!
