Assuming you meant "funding", well, politicians make lots of noises about
that but invariably don't bite the hand they feed themselves with. It's
pretty much legalized bribery as long as you jump through the right hoops.
It's really up to the populace at large to keep pressure on the politicians
to enact change. It's not just a Republican problem, either.
It doesn't seem to me that the current wave of "patriotism" affects the
matter greatly. No doubt people are willing to give more slack right now,
but the day of accounting will happen if deserved (note Dubya's daddy rode
the same horse and found that he got bucked off come election time).
Us Watergate vets are just as wary of shredded documents as we are of erased
tapes. :-)
