I guess you mean a duplex. Sure, why not? Especially given the
current state of the law that makes it so freakin difficult to get rid
of losers once you find out they're scummy and you don't want them or
their loud, dirty, possibly dangerous friends around?
I see ads all the time in the UT school paper - apartments for rent to
"grad students" only. That's discrimination, right? Well-founded
discrimination if you ask me. Undergrads, on the whole, are probably
a lot louder and possibly more destructive than grad students, given
the age difference.
Or do you think it would be ok to discriminate based on age, but not
based on race, sexual preference (or sex), shoe size, or anything
else?
I think if Joe homeowner wants to enter into the kind of trusting
contract you have to have with someone to actually let them live right
next door to you in his own home, sure, let him use whatever means to
pick and choose he wants. If he gets a reputation of being
anti-whatever then the portion of the market that is offended by that
can just refuse to rent from him.
