You scare me.

Who scares you more? Me or the bloke with prior convictions locked away for
writing the filth.

YOU.  Him I may never run into.  But if too many people think like you, the government
will end up trampling all over me.  It's a lot harder to run/hide from the gubmint
than from an individual.

I can't beleive your more scared of me! When we're you intending to run into
me? you've already acknowledged I live in a different country.

Is your fear of governmental oppression intellectual or paranoid?
(bit below the belt, but what the hey :-)).

This debate is about thought crimes manifested by physically commiting them
to paper, I think you see everything as absolute's while I think there's a
point where people go to far. When that threshold is exceeded, that's when
the government need's to step in. Isn't the law supposed to remove
individual's that are a threat to society for the good of everyone else.

Perhaps we should take the oppertunity to discuss the approval of China as
host of the Olympic games which I think is shocking especially as they shoot
more people than the rest of the world put together. Apparrently it only
takes China 3 months to kill as many people as the rest of the world killed
in 3 years.

I presume the Chinese government is always shooting it's citizen's for
thought crimes, but these are innocent people voicing their dislike for the
regime. They shouldn't be shot for simply wanting a government that won't
shoot them.

In my opinion the Olympic commitee should have awarded it to another country
and then spelt out exactly why China didn't get it. I wouldn't be surprised
if their was some behind the scenes political or corrupt reason behind the
decision. I think those who are responsible for the descision should be
scrutinised in case of unfair influence's

(...) I see now - you don't live in the US, so you just can't quite appreciate the freedoms we have (they're eroding, though, unfortunately. And if more people in the US think like you, they'll erode much faster). (...) YOU. Him I may never run (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jul-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
