It took my wife nearly four years, but she finally got me to pick my socks
up off of the living room floor. Of course it might have been the fact that
she taped them to a ceiling light fixture just as company was arriving.... :-)
Anyway... My thoughts (not that anyone asked) are that men and women need to
work together. For example. My wife won't even touch a lawn mower. We've
come to the agreement that mowing the lawn will be my job. Her's
more-or-less will be the day-to-day cleaning. Mind you, we have other
compromises too. Cooking is a 50-50 thing. We have learned that we each have
different tastes when it comes to "clean". I dislike clutter, but could go
months without cleaning the bathroom sink. She's the other way around.
We tend to agree that we have complimentary likes/dislikes. If you put the
two of us together things balance out. Some things are split along the
"typical" sexist lines and others aren't. When we first were married, we
were determined that everything could be done by both of us. We also found
that idea wasn't really desireable either, so we compromised and found a
split we could live with. I know that she works hard and I still slack off
on some things, but one thing makes me positive that she'll keep me
around... She still needs me to open the pickle jar. :-)
