I'm not looking
to make a put down of the Libertarian Party - I honestly think this is
something that Libertarians need to consider more: if they are touting their
message as so universal, why is such a narrow audience that is listening?

I think, stated that way, it's a fair enough (but not particularly
important) question. I don't know "the answer" but I advanced my theory already.

It would seem to me that you don't think it particularly important is an
illustration of the problem.

To wit: Long term benefit to society may not always be visible to all members.

And long term detriments may not be visible to all the Libertarian Party
members.  I did give a specific example (Libertarians allowing business to
discriminate on the basis of race, creed, and sex) that probably cuts to the
core of the question in my previous message.  Glossing over this kind of
thing with vague statements may make the white males in the Libertarian
Party more comfortable with themselves, but it dooms them to the fringe.

ADM will be a much better company in the long term if it were weaned from ag
subsidy but you may not get them to agree, and they have pretty well paid
lobbyists who lobby for the status quo.

I still don't speak initial.  Adult Doll Machines...?  :-)

People currently on welfare will be a lot better off in the long term if
they were better educated and had skills commesurate with the needs of the
job marketplace and had motivation to use those skills, but you may not be
able to get Al Sharpton to agree.

I certainly agree, but as constructed welfare isn't actually designed to
help people got off it, which is what I don't like about it.
