No worms, I dig what you're saying here. I think America has an aversion to
the word "communism" and is stuck on the Cold War model of an oppressive
"big brother", totalitarian state. Let's pretend there was never a Stalin or
Mao and address the idea of communism as community-- common ownership,
freedom, tolerance and equality. Everyone works together, everyone depends
on each other and nobody is exploited. No unemployment, no homeless people,
individuals can choose their profession and everyone gets paid fairly.
Respect for spirituality and individuality. These are a lot of noble ideas.
Even "Star Trek" embraces many concepts of communism. However, since people
are flawed, we witnessed the worst in "communism" and it was/is a far cry
from the utopian ideal. So is communism bad? I don't think so.
