Re: Help me with the math

(...) Did FDR initiate an unprovoked attack upon a sovereign nation? If so, was he inspired to do so because of decades of biased and unbalanced foreign policy, which itself came on the heels of imperialist efforts to usurp the natural resources of (...)   Re: Help me with the math

(...) Well, that's the point, isn't it? Bush deliberately initiated an unjustified war, and now 1,000+ US soldiers are dead, along with ~12,000 innocent Iraqis. I agree that soldiers put themselves in harm's way, but one would hope that they (...) (20 years ago, 8-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: Bravo To These Authors

(...) As you wrote it, I don't think the Israeli land grab is terrorism. Terrorism is a means not an end. The point is to instill fear so that some other thing (even if poorly defined) may happen. The Israelis may (like every other nation) use (...) (20 years ago, 8-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: Bravo To These Authors

John, what Beslan/Chechnya shows is that combating Terrorism with Terrorism does not work. The same goes for Israel. Personally, I found the events in Beslan very disturbing. Even more so, if I'm honest, than the events of 911. However, we must (...) (20 years ago, 8-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: A Family Stoned and a City Massacred

(...) To stick with your analogy for a moment, can Michael Jackson, as a former black person, call a currently black person the "N" word? Not that I think this is a very good analogy. Having dark skin is really not analagous to subscribing to a (...) (20 years ago, 8-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) But nothing; were the rights of Communists not restricted? Search google for "McCarthyism" & "freedom" to see what I mean. Scott A (20 years ago, 7-Sep-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: The Brick Testament: A Family Stoned and a City Massacred

(...) Good one:-) (...) Ah, well, I should've kept my fingers shut because I don't have the time or inclination to "go there" (again) WRT to this topic, but here is an analogy to consider: why can a black person call another black person the "N" (...) (...) A MOCery, perhaps... <groan> Brenden is just illustrating the words, he's not changing them or editing them in any way. I don't see how you can consider that mocking the good book. JohnG, GMLTC (20 years ago, 7-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)
