Are you by chance referring to Hasbro's Built To Rule series?  There's been a
little discussion of this brand here on LUGNET

And here's my review of one set:
http://news.lugnet.com/off-topic/clone-brands/?n=1784

Intresting to see if the construction could copy
over to lego, with the lack of megabloks special peices.  I saw Optimus, and
at least 3 others.  They also have the minicon with each set.  Oh and the new
Dragon series with orcs?  C'mon lego make some orcs!  (not just dobby or
gamorian guards or yodas either)

I love those Vorgan guys in general and their primitive-looking weapons in
particular.  Very cool IMO.

With sets like these, MEGABLOKS puts TLG in a tight spot.  TLG can't really
pursue the same genre without looking like a clone of the clone (as in the
recent Skate Park sets), but TLG also presumably doesn't want to miss out on a
viable market.
