Like I said, YMMV.
LEGO has--at every turn--attempted to stifle competition and prevent fair access
to the marketplace. In this particular case, they sought the endorsement of
their anti-competitive practices by nothing less than the US Government itself.
If thats not fear of the free market, then its certainly not an embrace of it.

I did not express any opinion on MB products or practices since such are not
relevant to the discussion at hand.

Agreed, which is why I stipulated that you--or others might have problems with
the brand; I wasnt declaring that you personally harbor such objections or that
you find them relevant here. I thought that this was made clear in the post.
