  Strange e-bay auction
 
I can't make out what is going on with this "auction": (URL) the surface, there is 1 Silver Champion being auctioned. The item title suggests this is a "But it now" auction, and the text appears to suggest that there are multiple items and the (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

It looks like the seller is trying to avoid the listing & final value fees for multiple items. To list something at a starting price of $124.99 is $2.00, with a final value fee of $3.75. That's $5.75 per item that goes to eBay, so s/he is saving (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) He's selling sets he hasn't yet bought from Walmart.com and having them shipped (by Walmart) to the buyer's address - that's why he's not waiting for the auction to end. He's afraid that the Walmart stock will run out. He's also avoiding the (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Yeah, it seems likely he's trying to scam eBay. However, I believe your suggestion is specifically prohibited by the rules of eBay, so look before you leap. It would be better to bring this auction to the attention of eBay directly. Bruce (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Interestingly enough this auction has now been closed... the seller even added a comment stating that it was closing so a proper dutch auction could be opened.
