Hi all,
I think James made some good points here. I recently started a shop on brickbay
(Markslegoland) and have to say I haven't had much luck. Granted, my inventory
is still small and am looking to add. I agree with James that it is much easier
to buy than sell :( Bad for the checkbook! :( In addition, many stores sell
many of the same parts, and if you do a little research, you can get parts from
those who sell them for the lowest prices and charge the least in shipping
(i.e. within your own country, as James mentions too). However, when looking to
buy, I will also look at store feedback, a very useful feature of brickbay.

In addition, I agree with James that those who have their own websites as well
probably sell more because they have a wider audience. It seems that brickbay
is used by a limited number of people. It would be interesting to see how much
of the sales actually take place between store owners. What do you think?

The number of shops on Brickbay exploded.  I was one shop among 20, now I'm
one shop among 100.

The initial rush of Brickbay traffic died down.  I don't know for sure about
other buyers, but I know I placed a bunch of orders because it was so darn
easy, and found myself in a tight corner for a bit.  I've slowed down my
buying, and others may have as well.

My shop started being listed under my country.  I've noticed that a much
higher percentage of recent orders are other Canadians, from which one could
infer that more USians (the obvious bulk of the market) are sticking to US
sellers.

Thoughts?

James

I've had some thoughts churning around in my head recently generally related to parts selling and how I can streamline the process, and it never hurts to open the door and get more input. I noticed that my most recent sale announcement got less (...) (24 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
