OK I didn't know exactly where to place this and I didn't want to tempt fate by
posting to .general so I picked this place as it is a story about a theory
about how to improve your LEGO experiance by Selling LEGO!

Last night I recieved my shipment from E-Toys of several 4940's.  My wife (9+
months pregnant and out of her skull board) was sitting there very sad looking
and I asked if she would like to help me sort the shippment for my store and
she said sure.

Now the set comes with 2 bags, 1 small and 1 large,  I gave her all the small
bags and I took the large ones and we proceeded to sort out the LEGO into bags.
Meanwhile I was explaining how/what I was putting up in my store and how that
would help defray the cost of my habbit.  She seemed a little amused but still
enjoyed the conversation and didn't really mind the sorting.  So then I posted
my new inventory to Brickbay and was she supprised when within an hour I had
made back the cost of the sets.

She was taken back for sure.  So much so that she said to me that we should
stop at TRU tonight and pick up some sets to sell at my store :-).  She was
fairly supportive of my addiction before but now that the cost in real dollars
has plumitted she is all for it and now expects me to have a huge collection
for my Soon to be son to play with in 3 years or so.

I guess all this gets down to I am really pushing Brickbay for anyone that
might consider it and doesn't mind the work (thats the one hurdle it is quite a
bit of work).  You have to pick your sets wisely but if you do you can provide
a service to the community as well as to yourself.  Then if you have kids you
can also use this as a tool to teach them business management and how to run
their own business.

I just can't thank Dan enough for the site I just can't wait to put more
inventory up so I can increase my collection while helping everyone else get
the parts they want.

(...) what about us poor saps who can't bear to break apart a set? oh sure, i might not need this piece today, but what about tommorrow? :) Besides, it doesn't count as owning a set if i only own *some* of the parts to it... (24 years ago, 29-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
