Internet sales != universal access. Great for us, not so great for
anyone who cannot or chooses not to access the Net.

Then let's just say that its as inclusive a plan as any so far, even if its
not everyone.  Everyone is indeed a slippery term.  I just meant everyone that
could afford Lego purchases with regularity.  I guess I wasn't thinking of
that kid in the tv commercials with the flies in his eyes.  And I guess I
wasn't thinking of that kid living along the Amazon without plumbing or
electricity.  And I guess I wasn't thinking of U.S. street people.  I guess I
was just thinking of the lego fandom that had the means and desire to
participate.  Certainly, we are considering almost exclusively the wealthy
countries of the world.  We who buy Lego are not exactly living hand-to-mouth,
even if we live by modest means.

If one has the means to purchase lego at all, then one is likely to be close
enough to a public library with a computer, or maybe even have web access of
one's own.  TLC itself is clearly targeting a computer literate crowd -- what
with all of the CD-ROM games, Mindstorms, etc.  I think its fair enough to
look to this as their intended customer base, with those currently left out
climbing onboard soonish.  So, I think we can exclude consideration of those
unable to afford the toy to begin with.  Sad but true.

An internet based Lego Direct that also printed the occasional catalogue (like
the U.S. Shop@HOme) might be the best compromise.  Total solution? No.  Best
solution?  Yes.
