 | | New York Times on Walmart Pricing
|

Today's (23 December 2003) New York Times has an interesting article on Walmart's effect on the toy market -- pushing toy-specific retailers to the brink. General thrust is that Walmart and sometimes Target are selling numerous toy items below their (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.mediawatch)

Reuters has a report that KB-toys is rumored to be delaying payments to some vendors... (URL) available on other sites that carry the Reuters Business wire. Most interesting is the last para concerning KB possibly going to private label toys. Ray (23 years ago, 19-Dec-03, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Actually, you're right, it is still "messing with the price guide". However, most boxes were listed at the average previous sales price. I figured leaving them at that price I would mess much less with the price guide than selling them at 95% (...) (23 years ago, 23-Nov-03, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Doesn't your proposed procedure directly "mess with the price guide" by reporting false information into the record? If you can't sell the boxes within an acceptable timeframe at full price then their real value to you is what you are able to (...) (...) I have to agree with Michael on this one. There are some e-bay retailers who don't have the time to pack their own boxes. They rely on 3rd party services to pack up their shipments to their customers. I guess I get the same feeling on Ebay (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-03, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.market.shipping)

Well my take on this was you thought the 'quote' was ok, before you knew the breakdown so forgot you found out and let it slide. You agreed that the shipping was ok and paid it so turning that into a negative feedback would be considered pretty (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-03, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.market.shipping)

(...) His letter said simply that shipping quote to Israel for Airmail Parcel Post is $42.40. I thought that this is the cost, and obviously if that's the case I wouldn't be able to get a much better deal as I think 93$ is a fair price for the set. (...)
