Way to go Dave!  I knew there were others who found some buys!  I bet the
next time you get some competition in that area! haha  I personally found
those Watto sets to be good buys.  I picked up all I could find at 50% off!
enjoy,
Tom

Okay, it's time for me to reveal what's been happening in Los Angeles' San
Fernando Valley. I saw most of what Tom mentioned on Wednesday morning as I
was one of the cutthroats Maggie C. mentioned. Other notable items I saw but
did not buy:
RIS 2.0 @ 75% off ($49, I believe)
Tons of Railway Expresses @ $32 (10 at one store, 27 at another)
The bigger Dino sets (6719,6720,6721,6722) @ $2.44 each
The three biggest Jack Stone sets @ $9.44, $14.??, and $19.44 respectively
Watto's Junkyard @ $8.74 each (convieniently hidden away until I raise the cash)
Temple Escape Studio (#1355) @ $1.24 (and I bought every last one of them)

The only 50% item at all the locations was still the Polar set. I guess this
set is some sort of test.

Lastly is my FOTW-my 1349 Steven Spielberg Moviemaker set. For $44.94, I
couldn't pass it up. When you add on the $50 off coupon that Target
shouldn't have accepted, you end up with a set for which I only paid the
sales tax-$5 and change. Not bad for a $180 retail set if I say so myself!
It's a good thing it sold to me too, as Target was trying to pull a fast
one-half the items inside the box were missing! No actress, no software, and
no spotlight pylons! The nerve of some places trying to pass off an
obviously returned item as new. Good thing I got it on the very cheap, or I
would be upset about it. Lego gets a call tomorrow for some replacement
parts-I want that actress! :)

My Targets:
Desoto Target in Tarzana, Ca
Fallbrook Target in West Hills, Ca
Corbin Target in Northridge, Ca
San Fernando Target in Northridge, Ca
Balboa Target in Northridge, Ca
405 Target in Van Nuys, Ca
Raymer Target in Van Nuys, Ca
Osborne Target in Pacoima, Ca
Victory Target in North Hollywood, Ca
Greatlands Target in Burbank, Ca.

I finally stopped looking around because it's depressing to go window
shopping 75% off with no cash in hand. Ah, well....next year, I guess!

Final thought-I've been watching these stores from Wednesday morning through
tonight (Friday). I don't believe the disappearances to be employee related
at this point as I saw quite a few Lego Muggles (NLFs) buying Lego because
it was cheap. Even the Jack Stone sets were all gone after two days @ 75%
off, so customers really are taking notice.

Keep looking-some of the smaller sets are still out there!

-Dave

(...) I managed to track down 1 Railway Express at 75% off here in Nashville. A week ago I bought 2 at 50% off. By the time I went around to 3 of the Targets near me Thursday morning most of the Lego was gone. I did find a Spinosaurus attack JP3 (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jan-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)
