They remind us to, "shop online" at:

but here's a LEGO search:

note: silver buckets, snow speeder

free shipping on orders over $150 until Oct.7

Here's my tale about the current Service Merchandise Sale:

As above, I could not find any mention of a LEGO sale on the website, so
I shot off an email to their sales department. In the meantime I jotted
down the 1-888 number for mail order. I also noticed that the website
was advertising that orders above $150.00 would be given free shipping.

Today (Monday) I called the 888-number, and after being on hold for a
while I got a friendly fellow on the other end. The conversation/order
that followed took over half an hour, but I thing, by the end, you'll
agree it was worth it.

Question #1: Is there, in fact a sale (buy one, get one for 50%)?
Answer: after he found the correct catalog (I don't actually have one),
he confirmed the sale.

Question #2: since the website does not seem to reflect the sale, can I
just take advantage of the sale by phone-mail-order?
Answer: After some double checking... yes.

Question #3: ok, do you, in fact, have product number 3025TLY (The Basic
Silver Buckets)?
Answer: Yes.

Question #4: also, the website mentioned that any purchases over $150
would have free shipping... is this valid for phone orders?
Answer [more checking]: Yes.

'Fine,' I said (you can see the punchline probably), 'I'd like to order
22 silver buckets at the sale prices. That should come out to roughly
$165 dollars, so the shipping will be free.'

There is a pause.

'Can you hold for a moment.'

'Yes.'

Many moments later.

'Sir?'

'Yes?'

'That is correct. Give me a few minutes to get the order processed and
calculated.'

Many minutes and holds later, I had, in fact, ordered 22 Silver
Anniversary Buckets for about $180 (after tax and handling -- only
shipping was free).

Anyone who buys in bulk like myself should see the value in this. 13,222
bricks at $180. Buying in the Big Blue Tubs (#3033) which are currently
the best standard value (since Purple Buckets are harder to find
everyday) would have cost over $230 for that many bricks (13,200). Even
33 Purple Buckets at $5.99 + tax would have run over $210.

Not to mention that I'm getting 22 silver bricks in the bunch.

Assuming they didn't screw up the order in handling, the UPS driver
should be lugging a very large package to my door in 5-7 business
days... we'll see.

You know you're a LEGO-addict when you think to yourself, 'gee, I only
spent $180 on plastic bricks today.'

PS: An hour after placing the order, I received this email from

(...) So do you think your order has been cancelled or are you sure it will go through? Heck, I'd order 22 of them for $180 right now. I might order twice that many. (25 years ago, 4-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)
